If you work at all today the odds are that you use a computer to do your job or at bare minimum someone in your company uses a computer at some point during the day. There is no escaping the use of a computer in business today. Computers are in nearly every home in developed countries.

One of the main factors of a computer is the ability to store data. That ability to store data was a critical component of the use of the computer. It was so much so that people found it exciting that they could store data on it and did it regularly.

However, the public soon started to dream about the ability to take the things that they had stored on their computer with them to a friend's house or from work to home so that they could finish at home. However, at first there was no way to get that done.

Soon, their came forms of portable storage. One of those forms was in a floppy disk. Eventually it became the cd rom. However, both of these were what is referred to as otp memory. Otp memory is a form of portable memory that could be written to one time. Otp stands for one time programmable. What that means is that it could not be overwritten and so once something was saved to the disk or cd rom it was there for good.

This was okay and it solved the problem of portability of memory and data that everyone wanted the ability to do. However, it was also a problem and frustrating when mistakes were made and the disk or cd rom were wasted.

Computers continue to evolve and new forms of data storage are continuing on. In fact, our phones are now the way that we share things with others and carry data that we would like to share. It was only a fantasy back in the days when computer geeks were using floppy disks, but it is now a reality.

Who knows where this will go next. Just when you think technology has no further to go there is always more and more coming. All of these things are designed to make our lives more convenient, however, it often makes them more complicated because we have not learned how to control them. Instead, the technology seems to control us a lot of the time and it causes a lot of problems for those who fail to learn to control it.
