The network marketing industry is an awesome industry. It is the only one I can think of that enables people from various backgrounds to get the same opportunity. It is also the only industry I know of that can allow you to get money and time freedom together. Most industries nowadays, can usually only provide you with either time or money… but not both. In addition, with the declining economy, it is empowering to know that you have some control over your finances by building your own home business.
With that said, because most network marketers come from an employee background, they’re not as effective as they can be because they’ve never had to manage their time before. Whether you are a full-time or part-time network marketer, it is important that you learn how to be productive with your time.
But, how important is time management? A better question to ask is probably, how fast do you want to hit your goals?Think about it: If you can become 25% more productive with your time, doesn’t it just make sense that you’d achieve your goals in 25% less the time than it would if you weren’t as productive? What if you you could become 30% more productive with your time? What about 50% more productive?I mean, why drag out the time it’ll take to hit your goals, when you can get them in half the time by getting great at managing your time and becoming more productive with the time you have?
In this article, I will give you three simple ways you can become much more effective with your time, while building your network marketing business:
1. Decide what you really want to accomplish – You can’t hit a target that doesn’t exist. Clarity and definiteness of purpose are the most important concepts to becoming super-productive. Brian Tracy says, “The number one reason why some people get more work done faster is because they are absolutely clear about their goals and objectives and they don’t deviate them.” The more clear you are about what you want, the easier it is to overcome procrastination, which is the enemy of productivity.
2. Plan every day in advance - It’s been said that your mind and your ability to think and plan are the most powerful tools for overcoming procrastination and increasing productivity. Read any book on time management, and they all same the same thing; “One minute spent in planning saves almost 10 minutes in execution.” Personally for me, I always list down the six most important tasks I need to accomplish the day before. And when I wake up, I don’t waste any time thinking about what I have to do, or stressing about something I may have forgot. I simply look at my To Do list and cross everything off as I accomplish each task.
3. Apply some healthy pressure on yourself – At some point, you have probably spent a whole day cleaning your house. But, have you ever gotten a call from someone saying they were in the area and would drop by in an hour? Miracurously, in just 1 hour, you not only cleaned your house, but put on a pot of fresh coffee.How can that be? How did you accomplish in one hour what it normally would take you a couple of hours to do? It was pressure. Network marketers call it a “Sense Of Urgency”. The most successful people, both in traditional business and in network marketing, have this sense of urgency. Obvisouly, this does not necessarily mean you need to work every second of every minute. But it does mean, when you do work, be productive and don’t waste time.
So many people think that to do well in this industry you have to be a workaholic. And honestly, there is a short period of time when you need to be totally focused on your business.However, that doesn’t mean that you have to neglect everything else in your life in order to be successful. Just make sure that when you’re working your business, you’re 100% there mentally and that you’re being as productive as you can possibly be.
